My friend who lives in Kuwait…and gratefully so just like EVERYONE else who lives there…during a conversation about life in Kuwait said to me ‘at least they allow us to pray in church’.
Hmmm…WOW!!! They ‘allow’ us to pray!!!
That’s some privilege!!!
They take away ALL your freedoms and hand you bits and pieces of breadcrumbs…that makes you feel so grateful.
I understand we as foreigners are living in THEIR house and THEY get to make the rules…we are at THEIR mercy.
When you are at someone’s house… mercy…when they hand you breadcrumbs…you are obliged to be grateful.
But THAT is neither a privilege nor a gift.
Don’t get me wrong…my father moved there for his livelihood when he was 18…me and my siblings were all born there…trust me…we were ALL grateful to be alive…it was drilled into our heads every-single-day-of-our-lives…we were so grateful for breadcrumbs.
A lot of my friends and their families have acquired a lot of financial abundance in Kuwait…despite the oppressive lifestyle…to them I applaud…but that is not the story for most who live there.
At 65 they took away my Dad’s ‘privilege’ and made him leave his home.
Most consider themselves very fortunate to be privileged enough to be ‘allowed’ to live there…because our original backup plan was ‘NOTHING’.
When you do not have a back up plan…whatever you get in the present moment is a ‘privilege’.
Just like Prison…4 square meals and 1 hour play time…but ONLY when they dictate you can.
Prison or Privilege…
Your opinion will vary depending on how far deep you are indoctrinated into that lifestyle and how it has impacted your present day circumstances.
