Dear God…
Please don’t let me be alone🙏
I think most of us have prayed this prayer at some point in our lives.
One thing to pray for ‘company’….quite another thing to think your prayers have been answered by the next person who shows up…without vetting their intentions out.
Being afraid to be alone is the reason you form toxic bonds for the wrong reasons…platonic and intimate.
When you can sit with yourself by yourself for extended periods of time without the input and company of others…you are ONLY at the beginning of knowing your true self…let alone liking your own self.
When the ‘silence sounds deafening’…THAT’S when you are forced to hear yourself and and feel your feelings.
Also a good time to start writing…that happened to me over 8 years ago and intensified during Covid.
***If you cannot stand to be alone in your own company…you are in bad company***
Being alone is not a good reason to settle for ANYTHING at all!
Sounds simple and easy enough…
Sounds too much like common sense…
It’s NOT…
It’s tough to do…
The fear of being alone is REAL and causes a lot of emotional anxiety…
You may want to feel a ‘certain’ way so badly you project all that onto the next person you meet…and that may simply not be their truth…or the truth of the situation.
The human mind will go through great lengths to eliminate that anxiety…and that includes ‘settling’ for ANY kind of attention.
Negative attention is also attention!
We do that same behavior as children to get attention…we do the same as adults but in a more self-harming manner.
